MuskieBob's Fishing Books

I started writing fishing books in 1984 and published them using a very homegrown process. I typed each book myself and had the pages copied at the printers, and then I put the books together by hand. Many books included a copy of a marked map of Lake St. Clair and a bit of its tributaries. I marked the map so that you could find the better fishing areas that I've discovered over the years.

Some of my books are still available from me and are occasionally found on Ebay. Future printings are always a possibility as well. Please contact me for information on what is available.

2006: "76 Years of Fishing" Tips, Tales and Tears

This is the story of my fishing life. It has 95 pages of stories, the good and the bad. That is the tears and tales part of the book. It also has tips on all things fishing that I've learned over the years. I hear it is good reading. 100 books have been printed so far, and I plan on printing more. There is a limited quantity left with this special price.

2005: "Muskie of Lake St. Clair" Special Color Edition

This is the same book as the 2005 second edition except that the images are printed in full color. There are at this time only 22 of these books, lettered A through V. The four books, letters W, X, Y, and Z, will be printed at a future date. This is the rarest of my books.

2005: "Muskie of Lake St. Clair" Second Edition

I put 24 more pages (64) in this edition of the orignal "Muskie of Lake St. Clair" plus 16 photos. There were only 3 photos in the first edition. This print was limited to 100 copies that were signed and numbered. If you are new to fishing the lake, this book would be useful. I may have some copies left, so check with me.

2005: "Muskie of Lake St. Clair"

The focus of this book is to highlight all the ways to fish for Muskie on the lake, and where to fish. First printing of only 25 books that sold out in one day (40 pages). It is rare to find this book.

2004: "Catching Muskie and the Rules of Muskie Fishing"

There were 57 books of 73 pages in the first printing. It came with a yellow cover and all of the books were hand numbered by me. This is a very good book as it details most of the basic ways to catch Muskie, from live bait to trolling and most everything in between. It covers what lures work best most of the time and other tips to improve your catching ability. I printed a second time, 158 books with a blue cover. The yellow cover version is very scarce. I may have a few blue cover prints left.

2003: "Muskie and Me"

This is my first pure Muskie book. It is 50 pages long with 12 colored photos. A limited edition of 100 were numbered and signed. This book is about some of the fish I have caught in my life. It also has tips that will help you catch fish.

2000: "Bass in Lake St. Clair II"

This is an updated version of the original with upgrades on different areas for the weed beds and the fish. It gives basic Bass fishing instructions for Lake St. Clair as well as other lakes. There were three printings of 400 books total. These books are scarce.

The 1989: A rewrite of "Bass in Lake St. Clair" (1987)

This book had 4 printings of 200 books each. Each printing had a cover change. The maps are copies from a map book and not hand-drawn. There are spots marked on the copies of the lake map that I found to hold a lot of fish. The basics of Bass fishing on the lake are pretty well covered in this book. These books are hard to find.

1987: "Bass in Lake St. Clair"

This was my first book on how and where to catch the Bass of Lake St. Clair. It has 11 hand drawn maps and 38 pages of text. 100 books were printed and these are very, very rare to find. The 1989 rewrite had four printings of 200 books each. Each printing had a cover change. There are spots marked on the copies of the lake map that I found to hold a lot of fish. The basics of Bass fishing on the lake are pretty well covered in this book. It is hard to find.

1999: "Fishing Lake St. Clair II"

This is a complete rewrite of the original book and the maps were updated as well because of the new weed beds in the lake. There were three printings with four different covers. The last printing was only fifty books and it featured the late George Richey on the outside back cover. This book is very rare to find.

1995: "Fishing Lake St. Clair"

This is a rewrite of the 1992 book with a lot of changes in it. Most of the basic information in all of the books is the same. The maps were changed a bit to reflect new weed beds, etc. There were five printings with several different photos on the covers. Some are scarce and hard to find.

1992: "Fishing Lake St. Clair"

This is the first of the blue covered books of this series. It has 52 pages and it also has maps of the lake that were copied from a map book. This book is different from the 1986 book. It does not contain the Master Angler Awards Lakes. It is a rare book.

1986: "Fishing Lake St. Clair"

It also includes the Michigan's Master Angler Awards Lakes. This is the first of several books on fishing Lake St. Clair. It tells you where to fish and what to use. It has 8 hand drawn maps showing hot spots. 150 books were printed with a gold cover.

1986: "Lake St. Clair's Big Three"

There were only 100 of these books, and even I do not have a copy. Pike-Muskie-Walleye, that's the focus of the book. It has the ways and places to catch these three fish in the lake. Hand drawn maps were included. This is an extremely rare book.

1999: "Casting: The Feast of Famine of Fishing"

This is a revised edition of the 1985 book. It is 88 pages long and 500 copies were printed. This is one of the best books to read to learn where and how to find fish. It also teaches you how to read water to locate structure. There are sections on most of the baits for casting for most species. It is full of good tips.

1985: "Casting: The Feast or Famine of Fishing"

400 copies of this book were printed but 280 were burned. This book covers a lot of the ways to find fish of most species. It is a "what-where-how" fishing book. It contains a lot of good information. It is very rare to find.

1986: "Casting Anchor Bay"

I rewrote the 1984 book, changing several things. There were 400 copies printed with a tan cover. It is scarce to find.

1984: "Casting Anchor Bay"

There were two printings of this 52 page book with five hand drawn maps of my hot spots. In 1984 150 copies were printed with a chartreuse cover, and in 1985 50 copies were printed with a blue cover. This is the only difference between the books and even the same printer was used. This book is about all of the different species of fish that I have caught in the bay over the many years I have fished it. It is a very rare find.
